The short version: your photos are processed on your device and never uploaded. The site collects anonymous usage statistics, and it stores what you type into the feedback form or the mobile-app waitlist. Nothing is sold, and there are no accounts.
Your photos
AspectFit resizes, pads, splits and watermarks images using the canvas built into your browser. The files you drop in are read by your browser, drawn on your device, and saved back to your device. There is no upload endpoint and no server-side storage; the developer cannot see your photos. Closing the tab discards them.
Usage analytics
The site uses Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, running on an instance controlled by the developer. Umami does not use cookies and does not build cross-site profiles. It records the page you visited, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type, screen size and the country derived from your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored; Umami uses it only to compute a daily rotating anonymous visitor identifier.
Inside the editor, Umami also receives feature events so the developer can tell which parts of the tool are used: how many photos were uploaded and in which formats, which aspect preset or background type was chosen, whether a border or watermark was enabled, the length (not the text) of a text watermark, and how many images were downloaded in which format. Events never contain the photo, its file name or its contents.
Feedback form
If you send feedback, the message, the feedback type you selected and an optional email address are stored together with the page you were on, your browser's user agent string, device type, screen resolution, viewport size and the time of submission. The technical fields exist so a bug can be reproduced. This data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) on Google's servers, is read only by the developer, and is kept until the feedback has been acted on. Email to have it deleted at any time.
Mobile-app waitlist
Joining the waitlist stores your email address, your browser's user agent and the time you signed up, also in Firebase. It is used only to tell you when a mobile version exists and is deleted on request.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare hosts and serves the site and keeps standard request logs (IP address, requested URL, user agent) for security and performance under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Your browser fetches font files from Google's servers, which see your IP address.
- Ko-fi provides the donation widget shown in the editor. Loading it fetches a script from Ko-fi's servers, and Ko-fi may set cookies under its own policy if you interact with it.
- Instagram embed script loads on guide pages that show an example Instagram post. Meta may set cookies and receive your IP address when that script loads, under Meta's policy.
- Google Firebase stores feedback and waitlist submissions as described above.
Data kept in your browser
To remember your settings between visits, AspectFit stores small amounts of data in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB: the export size you last used, saved watermark presets (including any watermark image you saved), which release announcements you have already seen, and a flag noting that you have answered the post-download feedback prompt. This data never leaves your device. Clearing site data in your browser removes it.
Cookies
AspectFit sets no cookies of its own. The third-party embeds listed above (Ko-fi, Instagram) may set theirs.
Your rights and requests
You can ask to see or delete anything you submitted through the feedback form or the waitlist by emailing [email protected]. Because there are no accounts and photos are never uploaded, there is nothing else held about you to export or erase.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Nothing about the tool requires anyone to submit personal data.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top is updated and a note appears in the in-app announcements.
